The regularly grinning, wicked dolphins will put on a show while the absolute most seasoned and the biggest ocean animals, the humpback and the blue whales, will indifferently float past you, when you leave on a whale/dolphin watching trip off the Southern, Eastern or the West bank of Sri Lanka. The perfect areas for whale watching would be Dondra Point (open from Galle, Hikkaduwa and Mirissa) and Trincomalee while the ocean off Kalpitiya abounds with a plenitude of dolphins.
